Pod-Trak starts first job as Principal Contractor for Network Rail

A major milestone for transport infrastructure engineering specialists Pod-Trak comes as it starts work on its first project won on own right with Network Rail as a Principal Contractor.

It comes after the company was accepted by Network Rail to act as Principal Contractor, opening up a whole new avenue of specialist works with the owners, operators and developers of Britain’s railway infrastructure.

The project involves the design and build on the Northampton MDU.

Paul O’Donnell, Pod-Trak MD and founder, said: “A lot of work went into getting accepted as a Principal Contractor, especially into our systems and procedures. But we have a great team that has worked so hard to be successful.

“As a contractor of overhead line work, third rail etc. – what we do is specialist, so we feel we have a lot to offer to the industry and a lot to offer to our clients.

“Having been accepted will help us to deliver more projects under our own right – the Northampton MDU being one example of that. It’s something we’ve done for a number of years for Transport for London, and the likes of Manchester Metro and Heathrow Airport.

“It is very satisfying achievement for the company because of the hard work we’ve put in over the years, so it’s nice to be recognised for that.”
