Pod-Trak wins Supplier & Contractor Excellence Award

Pod-Trak is delighted to announce its success at the 21st Rail Business Awards. Its joint-entry to the Supplier & Contractor Excellence category with Heathrow Airports, Camlin Rail, Fairhurst & Partners and Network Rail was awarded the trophy at the glittering ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 21st February.

Pod-Trak was recognised for its vital part in the Pantobot 3D, an innovative product developed by Camlin and implemented in the UK by the five-company alliance. It has numerous benefits over its traditional monitoring counterparts, the most notable of these being complete automation. Unexpected downtime has been greatly reduced, and it enables events like the three-day shutdown in 2015 to be avoided.

One of the key factors in this project’s success was the strength of the alliance. Having companies from different ends of the supply chain come together to take advantage of multiple competences is precisely what allowed the team to build value for Heathrow Airport. Each stage of the project was planned and carried out collaboratively, creating advantages by treating the alliance as a living system and allowing it to progress and evolve constantly in its capabilities.

PodTalk Newsletter – Issue 9 Winter 2018

Welcome to the Christmas edition of the Newsletter.

December is a good time to reflect on the year gone by and also, prepare ourselves for the delivery of a large programme of work throughout Christmas and the New Year. These works will be undertaken by a number of Pod-Trak staff who are committed to giving up time with their families, and for this I am extremely grateful.

We have had a very successful few months with our wellbeing and behavioural safety programmes and I am proud to see the impact they have been having in our attitudes on site and throughout the business as a whole. This will make us a stronger, more sustainable business moving forward and it means that we will be viewed as the more favourable supplier of choice to our clients, where we share their ambition and drive to make all projects safer for all of us. For this I would like to commend and thank all of our staff and suppliers as you are the people who can and are making a positive change within the business….Read the full newsletter

PodTalk Newsletter – Issue 8 Autumn 2018

Hello again and welcome to our latest newsletter. After a very busy final quarter I am pleased to announce that we have had a very successful year which we will be able to build up on in the year ahead. It has been a busy period across the business, with the team successfully delivering many significant project milestones throughout the country and work continues towards what we are expecting to be a busy Christmas period.

The Summer period has presented the business with some challenges which we have worked hard to address and learn from. On reflection, I am convinced that had we approached our work in a different way some of these challenges could have been avoided. During Spring of this year we launched PALS – Plan, Attitude, Lead, Share. I firmly believe that going forward, if we approach all of our works with PALS in mind our performance across the business will improve greatly. PALS will develop the culture of the business, but this culture will take some time to become embedded. As such, I ask you to consciously think about PALS in everything you do and refer to PALS in as many conversations as you can….Read the full newsletter

PodTalk Newsletter – Winter 2017

Welcome to the fifth edition of our quarterly newsletter.

As you know, this year is the 10th anniversary of Pod-Trak, which is an important milestone for any company. When we started out, Brenda and I could never have known if we would last 10 weeks, let alone 10 years. But we had a strong vision, a willingness to work hard and a belief in recruiting the most talented people as possible. A decade on, the company stands as one of the UK’s leading multifaceted organisations. That success is underpinned by a set of core values, which we promote frequently across every branch of our business. These values are…

  • Innovation – being challenging in our approach
  • Respect – being dedicated to relationships
  • Collaboration – working together to achieve more
  • Excellence – being exceptional in everything we do
  • Trust – being open and transparent always

We remain committed to these values in everything we do.

Glancing back on 2017, we saw turnover exceed £30 million in the UK and established a new office in Ireland. We had a number of very good contract wins over the final quarter of the year, alongside a good period of delivery. Our communications division expanded its client portfolio and executed some exciting projects to the highest standard, including DOO installation at Heathrow Airport for new client Linbrooke, under the management of Mario Gonzalez.

Civils South had a very successful quarter in challenging times, highlighted by the successful VolkerFitzpatrick WAML Civils Contract under the management of Cathal O’Sullivan.

The quarter also saw the completion of the Heathrow Airport Pad Replacement Project by the Permanent Way team. The 10-week operation culminated in the replacement of 70,000 pads, 140,000 clips and 140,000 insulators. The works were completed without incident or accident and ahead of programme, thanks to the efforts of the team led by Steve Gleeson and Esh Fuat.

These achievements, alongside many more that I could mention, will provide the platform for us to grow even stronger over the next 12 months…Read the full newsletter
